7th grade Overview

The focus of the 7th grade curriculum is Life Science.

Units Covered:  Scientific Method – beginning of year; Unit B: Human Biology or the Human Body (HB); Unit C: Microlife – covers cells, diseases, and classification systems; Unit D: Genetics; Unit F: Evolution.

Textbooks: The official DPS text is Science and Life Issues (Sali).  Students are also assigned additional textbooks from the Prentice Hall Science Explorer to supplement the  curriculum.  Students should bring both books to class everyday.

Learning Journals:  Students are to have a composition book that they will use as their learning journal.  The first few pages will be for the table of content.  Each entry is assigned a number and title and the student is given a writing prompt for the entry.  These journals are used to help students learn by reflecting and writing about the content that is being covered.
