About Mrs. Du Houx
Mrs. Du Houx has been teaching 7th and 8th grade science at Slavens K-8 School since the fall of 2004. She has previous experience teaching 6th grade science and math at a charter school in Cherry Creek and spent seven years teaching 7th grade science, math, and social studies at a Blue Ribbon middle school in Englewood.
In addition to teaching, Mrs. Du Houx has worked as an oil and gas geologist – both in exploration and as a sandstone petrographer; tested timing belts in the Synchronous Belt Test Lab at Gates Rubber; counted neutron traces on dosimeter film from Rocky Flats; and has held a variety of other jobs, including being the office manager at a language translation company.
She has earned both a BS and MS degree in geology before pursuing her education career.
