Discussion Prompt #3 – Surface Area in the body
Monday November 14, 2011We have found out that surface area is important to the function of many systems in the body. Some examples include alveoli in the lungs where gas exchange between the body and the atmosphere occurs; villi in the intestine where absorption occurs; capillaries throughout the body where gas exchange between the circulatory system and the cells occurs.
To answer this discussion prompt, describe which body system most relies on surface area to carry out its function and how surface area helps this system. You may use one of the three examples from above, or give a different example. This is an opinion question, there is no one correct answer.

According to Sali they are – Traditional Scientific Method: 1) State the problem or question; 2) Propose an explanation, also known as the hypothesis; 3) Collect evidence (conduct an experiment); 4) Analyze data; and 5) Draw conclusions and, if necessary, revise and repeat the experiment.
For this first discussion, state which two of these steps you feel are the most important ones to follow and explain why you think so.
